Joseph’s interest in working with singers was sparked when he was appointed staff accompanist at the RAM working for Noelle Barker OBE, Maria Cleva and Beatrice Unsworth. He has played for the masterclasses and workshops of a number of prominent singers including Dame Janet Baker, Dame Anne Evans, Thomas Quasthoff, Robert Tear and Philip Langridge. Joseph now studies Lied interpretation with Richard Stokes. He has also received masterclasses from Graham Johnson as part of the 2007 Young Songmakers’ Almanac (with soprano Julia Sporsén), and in London with Julius Drake, Rudolf Jansen and Joseph Siegel. In 2006 he worked with Roger Vignoles in Austria at the Sommer Lied Weinberg.

His studies as a repétiteur have been led by Anthony Legge and Audrey Hyland and he has worked for Royal Academy Opera at the Spitalfields Festival (Haydn Orfeo ed Euridice, Gluck Orfeo ed Euridice, Britten Billy Budd and Rameau Castor et Pollux), the Almeida Theatre’s staging of Schoenberg Pierrot Lunaire (with Sally Burgess and Richard Burnas), and British Youth Opera (Mozart Don Giovanni conducted by Alex Ingram and Tchaikovsky Eugene Onegin conducted by Peter Robinson). His work with choirs has including work with the London Symphony Chorus. Joseph was recently invited to join the ENO, ROH and Royal Ballet deputizing lists as a repétiteur. As a conductor he has performed at Birmingham and Cambridge Universities, on tour with the JESTA String Ensemble in Belgium and in masterclass with Denise Ham and George Hurst.
